Rainy Day

Today was actually a beautiful day, but I decided to re-visit one of Clea’s WODs, which I chose to call “Rainy Day,” because the day we did it was at the park and it was raining. Not brilliant, I know. I did it at the gym this time, and I started with 5-5-4-3-3-3 presses with 65-75-75-75-75-75. Then, on to the WOD, which was, for time, four rounds of:

-10 push-ups
-15 swings with a one-pood kettle bell
-20 goblin squats with a one-pood kettle bell (switched to 25# halfway in)
-25 walking lunges with a one-pook kettle bell (switched to 25# halfway in)

I did it in 12:16, which is almost four minutes faster than last time. Also, I waited a whole round before switching down the weight. My goal for next time is to go three rounds with a one-pood kettle bell.

Rainy Day…

It was raining all day long today. But, as we said in the United States Army, if it ain’t rainin’, we ain’t trainin’, and today was the free park workout. Apparently, other people don’t like rain, so I was the only one who showed up. We started with some dynamic stretching exercises and lungey stuff, then got onto a WOD invented by Miz Clea of Crossfit Ithaca that I will, from this point forward, call Rainy Day. Four rounds, for time of:

-10 push-ups (put your chin in the goose poop. Right in it. Lower, lower, lower…OK, right there)
-15 Kettle Bell swings (I used the full-pood Kettle Bell for the first three sets, then went for the 25#)
-20 Goblin Squats (I used the full-pood Kettle Bell for the first set, then did the 25# for the rest)
-25 weighted walking lunges (Again ^^^)

Boy did it suck. My face turned bright red. I dripped sweat in contest with the rain. I got covered in grass. I told Clea that I hated her. That I had just met her, but that I hated her. I was breathing like I was birthing a hippo (Clea should consider becoming a birthing coach, b/c she was like, “OK, two more deep breaths and then push!” heehee). But I did it in under 17 minutes (ETA: 16:10) and drove myself waaaay harder than I would have by myself, which gave me some perspective about my level of intensity.

I forgave her though because she gave me some pointers on the Jerk. Then we did some handstands together against one of the big willow trees down by the lake. She recommended bands rather than partial range of motion, which I will take under advisement, although I will continue to do handstands every day, one way or another.

Man am I tired.
