Three days’ worth

Tuesday: Complex:

-2 full pocket snatch
-2 OHS

I actually did OK at this complex, for me, which was 85#. The WoD was a 6-minute AMRAP:

-10 no-extension burpees
-10 box jumps

Did OK at this for me, again, with 4 rounds.

Wednesday: Jackie:

-1000m row
-50 thrusters 45#/35#
-30 pull-ups

Ignored the 10-minute time cap and took 4 1/2 minutes off of my PR with 10:52.

Today: every four minutes for 20 minutes (5 rounds):

-5 Hang squat cleans (225#/155#)
-10 box jump overs
-20 unbroken wall-balls
Rest with remaining time each round

I did this at 115#, because it was supposed to be 70% of 1RM, and it was still really heavy. I think I got 2:07, 2:21, 2:24, 2:38, 2:53, but I did do the wall balls unbroken.

I am up to 7-6-5-4-3 on ring push-ups and did 3-3-3-3-2 on strict pull-ups and 6-5-4-3-2 on strict TTB. My weight is down to 203.2. Hungry AF, but apparently it’s starting to pay off ALTHOUGH I was pretty sluggish on the WoD this morning. I don’t know if it’s because my quads have never been that strong or I’m too hungry. Mostly my metcon has been going well.

2 days with a big gap

Posted in jackie on December 29, 2015 by coughingsparks

The last time I trained was 12/23, and did a horrible double Jackie, 2 RFT:

-1000m row
-50 thrusters (65#/45#)
-30 pull-ups

20-minute time cap

I know I’m not good at Jackie, so I got 1+1 and used the second 1000m row to cool down, really. I then took another 5 days off due to feeling crappy and the holiday, so trained again today for the first time since then, doing the at-home WoD of 10-minute tabata air squats (that would be 20), and got between 10-13, certainly not a great score, but at least I was moving, followed by a 100-hollow rock cash-out. I had done tabata of hollow hold and Superman the day before, but this was the first met-con-ish thing that I had done.

Dismal Jackie Time

Posted in jackie, pull-ups on May 23, 2014 by coughingsparks

Started with the pull-up progression, which was 8-7-6-5-5 and I went up a band again because I didn’t do it very well last time, so now I’m on the purple band, rather than the red. Finished with Jackie:

-1000m row
-50 thrusters (45#)
-30 pull-ups

I wish I could say that I got better since doing it last year but alas, I added 28 seconds, getting 15:38. I do it Rx’d, and I almost went to ring rows because we were told the stimulus was NOT to do the pull-ups one at a time (which I knew was what was going to end up happening), but was sort of coaxed back up to the rig, where I did them, you guessed it, one at a time. I did a few sets of 2, but not very many. The thrusters didn’t go very well either and I got 10 right off the bat, but then immediately had to go to 5, and then to 3.

Just a dismal, dismal score. I’m frustrated, disappointed, and angry with myself.

Snatch/Rx’d Jackie

Posted in jackie, snatches on May 7, 2013 by coughingsparks

Yesterday was the every 90 seconds for 15 minute snatch. It went something like this:

I finally muscled it up at the end and it’s a PR, yes, but it was so, so ugly. I HATE THIS LIFT. There, I said it. I get upset every time I do it. At least I’m not the only one who was hitting the steering wheel on the drive home. Someone else said they felt close to tears during this WoD, so I’m not alone. Thank God. But hey, I knew it was going to be like this, and I showed up anyway, so go me. Growth.

Enough wallowing though.

Today was another Rx’d benchmark in my pocket, this time Jackie:

-1000m row
-50 thrusters 45#
-30 pull-ups

Got it in 15:10, which is slow, but I did every pull-up. One at a time. And nearly tore my hand. Should have used protection. I have a blister under my callous, which I drained when I got home, then razored them all down. I hope tomorrow is not anything like pull-ups, KB swings, or TTB.

In other news, I get to cross behind the tape at the Northeast Regionals as a volunteer! I am going to be working in the spectator first aid tent. The glamorous life…
