Wall walks TTB

Posted in handstand, knees-to-elbows on April 1, 2016 by coughingsparks

I’m looking forward to getting back into a strength cycle, as we are in a de-load week right now. We did a lot of handstand walking drills. The WoD was AMRAP 8 minutes:

-25′ handstand walk (3 wall walks)
-12 TTB

I did 3 + 5. Wall walks are miserable, but I made it through OK.

Group WoD and Handstand Stuff

Saturday was a Team WoD with Teams of 5, 14 minutes for max reps:

-3 minutes of burpees (everyone)
-3 minutes of lunges (2 at a time)
-3 minutes of DU (everyone)
-5 minutes of rope climbs (one at a time)

We got some sort of number, 800 or something. Totally doesn’t matter. I got 41 burpees, which is pretty good, I guess. I don’t know. I only got 63 DU, which is pretty bad for three minutes, but I just tripped and tripped and tripped. The rope climbs went OK, because, with teams of five, I got a nice long break between them.

Today was a lot of handstand skill work with a max effort handstand hold, which was 1:10 butt-to-wall. We also did some pirouette drills, spotted, which was interesting. The WoD was 6-minute AMRAP:

-10 box jumps
-8 TTB (TTR)

I got 5+1.

Handstand stuff and Tabata

Posted in burpees, double unders, handstand on August 20, 2015 by coughingsparks

Tuesday was some handstand walk stuff, going into the wall a few steps, which was fine.  The WoD was 9-minute AMRAP:

-10 hand taps
-10 V-ups
-10 superman rocks

I got, like 5 + 10, maybe?  I don’t remember.

Yesterday was Tabata not for counting, 4 minutes each:

-Air squats
-No extension burpees
-Double unders

It was OK.  I didn’t have anything left for double unders at the end.  I’m looking forward to getting out of de-load week.

Long hiatus, then two days

Yesterday was my first day back after a five-day hiatus and it was a nice ease-in.  First was a 4×3 DL:

Then was the WoD:

-100 KB swings for time (24kg/16kg)
-Every break, run 400m

I got 3:04.  I was pretty confident I could do it without breaking and luckily, I was right, because they would have had to have taped my hands to the rower, so shot was my grip.

Yesterday was heave set of 2 OHS from the rack, which we haven’t done in a very long time:

Not a PR, but not bad either.  The WoD was 9-minute ascending AMRAP of:

-3 OHS at 60% of 1RM snatch (70#)
-6 OHS

I did the bear crawl style HSPU and got 5 + 9.

Handstand stuff

Yesterday was a light day, a lot of handstand practice.  I would have like to have tried to do handstand walking assisted, but with my wound, I really didn’t want anyone near my ankles, so I just did unilateral hand loading for a while.  The WoD was 8-minute AMRAP:

-20 box jump overs/climb overs/step overs
-10 HSPU

I got 4 rounds, 23, with knees on the box pike.  I wasn’t really feeling feet on the box yesterday.

Weird Day

Today was 1RM back squat for the rest of CFP, but practice…something for competitors.  I did the core work for the day, which was 3×15 GHD and 3×12 reverse hypers at 140#.  I then did some handstand stuff, like one handed loading and rolling out, but I really need to roll out from an actual handstand, which will help confidence in the handstand walk.  Finished with the WoD, which was a 9-minute AMRAP of:

-20 wall balls
-10 DL (185#/125#)

I was very dizzy during this WoD and managed 4 + 21.  I probably should have done better than that, but I would do 10 wall balls, get dizzy, do 10 more wall balls, get dizzy, do 10 dead lifts, get dizzy.  So I stopped a lot, in other words.  I was at the 0700 class and early morning classes fasted are not my favorite thing ever.

Gymnastics again

Today was a lot of handstand practice. The WoD was 3 RFT:

-12 lunge steps (95#/65#)
-10 HPS

9-minute time cap

I finished 2 rounds, 8 using box step ups and, well…I started with pike on the box HSPU, but that got too difficult, so I went to push-ups with my hands and feet close together and was still doing them 2 at a time, and I STILL was time capped.

Eh. I don’t have anything nice to say.
